Cutting edge science is possible in Tanzania, and the reigning presidential laureate Joseph Ndunguru this week took that message to those who count – fresh graduates and aspiring researchers at the University of Dar es Salaam.
Indeed, Dr Ndunguru’s message was, by extension, aimed at all young men and women across the country.
For the second time within this month, the award winning researcher
has driven home the point that agricultural biotechnology offers the
best way out of an increasingly hungry world living under hostile farm
environments.
He has also allayed fears of those living under a spectra of the
unknown, arguing that current efforts to grow food from genetically
modified (GM) plants were taking place within a regime of sound
