OFAB Tanzania is a platform that brings together stakeholders in agro-biotechnology and enables interactions, for making new contacts and explore avenues of bringing the benefits of biotechnology in the country.
Sure! We are live is knowledge driven economic era where science, technology and innovation are the driving forces. Biotechnology is part and parcel of this economy. Hence regions and countries whose population (including scienctists, journalists, legislators and policy makers) are ignorant of this importnat technology and therefore continue to wallow in ignorance will be left far behind just like Africa was left out of the Green Revolution. The solution is to provide the people with factual information on the benefits of the technology so that they can make informed decisions while discouraging doomsayers from confusing the people with propaganda and pseudo-science/research. Tanzania will be better off listening to its eminenet scientists like Joseph Ndunguru who recently worn state award for his brilliant cassava research work.
